The Washington Nationals Set on a Display in Pittsburgh.
They mastered the hapless Pirates at the three excursions and dropped among four games, but poured it on. The Nationals started with a 13-0 win and then added wins of 11-1 and 7-1. Their offense was able to react with 18 runs to get a differential of play from the 18 innings, although their one slide was a 4-1 loss with.
The Nationals have very little time to observe, however, since they turn their focus to this Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field this weekend. It is a large time show for both clubs, as Cubs and the Nationals are in a fight for a place in the postseason. For the Nationals, their scenario is apparently a wildcard.
The Cubs are contending for the top place in the NL Central. It is a slender lead over the Cardinals, although they are currently in the lead. If the Cubs played with all of their remaining games in the home, then it’d be great chance to St. Louis. That’s not how it functions. The Cubs finish the regular season with six consecutive games on the road, including the season finale in St. Louis. The NL Central comes down so that’s a big advantage for the Cards.
Chicago must do well when they’ve opportunities in the home. That is where they need to make the most of Wrigley when they can and’ve cashed in all season long. The Cubs have been 44-19 at home going to this weekend, even while they’re just 25-39 on the street. That isn’t likely to work at the postseason for a staff who doesn’t have homefield advantage. Jon Lester will find the call against Anibal Sanchez this afternoon at Wrigley. Head below for our complimentary Nationals vs. Cubs pick.

The Cubs were becoming somewhat nervous about his arm and Jon Lester. He was not pitching like this club’s ace after Lester was dispatched for 16 runs in 9 innings against Athletics and the Cardinals, and trauma concerns were fresh on the minds of most fans. He needed a standout performance against the Pirates in his latest trip to calm any nerves and then settled against the Reds. Lester was dominant in that one, as he surrendered 4 hits and no earned runs.
It is precisely what he had to get back on track for the final push of the season. Today a Nationals team who have been mashing the ball lately must be cooled by Lester. He has been adequate from the Nationals in the past, as they’re hitting .274 at 233 at-bats. On the other side, Anibal Sanchez is coming into Wrigley Field. He got rocked against the Brewers for 2 hits and 5 earned runs in 4 innings. In his past few outings, Sanchez posted an ERA of 5.40 and 1.67 WHIP.
The Nationals were rising Pittsburgh and that I cashed in a Few tickets on them. This is a far larger chore contrary to the Cubs in a hostile environment. And don’t forget that the Cubs are playing good ball at the moment too. The Cubs are 4-0 in their last four games, which included a two-game sweep of the Giants.
Their latest win was a crazy one, since they outlasted the Giants with a score of 12-11. Note that the Nats are only 33-31 on the road, while the Cubs are 44-19 in the home. It must be a fantastic day matchup between the Nationals and Cubs, using the home team edging out the traffic here.
