Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville Join with our Staff with this week’s Will Greenwood Rugby podcast and Carragher likens Warren Gatland to Jose Mourinho.
The Monday Night Football duo begin by sight their swimming pool champions and runners-up and flying during their predictions to the outcomes of each Rugby World Cup pool.
The predictions continue thick and quick throughout the quarter-finals and on potential semi-finals, landing in Ireland taking on England meeting Wales and New Zealand.
Carragher throws his support behind Wales due specifically to one man’s influence.
“It is Gatland you see. He’s a top trainer, the Lions coach,” notes Carragher, that subsequently ponders to a possible New Zealand vs Wales final.
“New Zealand-Wales [in the final], I will go with this! I believe that New Zealand would do them.
“To be honest, the Lions didn’t lose, did they? To New Zealand. [Gatland] got a draw there.”
Together with Greenwood being decidedly impressed with both Carragher’s and Neville’s rugby nous, the tables turned on a comfortable subject – football managers. The question is, which one could Gatland function like?
“He’s stubborn is not he? With Warren Ball… is he Enormous Sam?!” Carragher pondered having a smile and a chuckle.
“You know what, I would say Jose Mourinho. He gets results”
After running the rule over Manchester City and West Ham – Rupert along with Greenwood Cox’s teams – attentions turn back to the Rugby World Cup.
