Adam Beard will join with Wales’ World Cup squad in Japan early next week.
The Ospreys lock has been admitted to hospital Wales ahead of the squad’s death on Wednesday.
Wales’ opening World Cup game is from Georgia in Toyota on September 23.
A Welsh Rugby Union spokesperson said:”Adam Beard has been admitted to hospital in Wales with suspected appendicitis from Wales team medics before the squad’s death last Wednesday.
“He had his appendix removed uneventfully after that afternoon and is recovering nicely. He will rejoin the remainder of the squad at Japan early next week”
Beard, 23, will be assessed on arrival together with the expectation.
Wales are very most likely to function as Beard’s fellow lock Cory Hill for this match as he continues his comeback.
Hill was named in Wales’ 31-man World Cup set, with the pool against Australia on September 29 being his first target.
